  1. It carried over from horse races because they would often have billiard tables in their betting parlors called "poolrooms" or I suppose "poolhalls" and to pass the time between races they would play billiards, eventually calling it "shooting pool"

Again billiard or billiards it same .however pool is American made term of game I’m Aussie in Australia we know it as billiards or billiardo but Americans has there own ways in things changed thing around it is what it is I guess how ever you play it it’s still a same game you no need for newname for it to differentiated . No matter of your way on game still same .
